Glen Johnson 

Glen Johnson is a Conn-Selmer Artist, voting member in the Grammy Recording Academy and member of the International Trumpet Guild. Glen is the founding member of Bay Street Brassworks renamed Hot Horns. Mr. Johnson received his Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati, Ohio where he studied with Alan Siebert and Marie Spetziale, and his Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland where he studied under Steven Hendrickson. Glen Johnson also attended the Tanglewood Music Festival’s Empire Brass Seminar where he studied with Rolf Smedvig, Jeffrey Curnow and Joseph Foley.
Glen is former Principal Trumpet with the Indianapolis (IN) Philharmonic. His orchestral resume includes engagements with a number of symphony orchestras including the Owensboro (KY) Symphony, Lafayette (IN) Symphony, and Illinois Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Annapolis (MD) Opera Orchestra, Maryland Philharmonic, National Honors Orchestra, Maryland Symphony, and Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Columbia (MD) Pro Contare Festival Orchestra, and Annapolis (MD) Chorale. Glen has held the position of Principal Trumpet with the Arnold (MD) Anne Arundel Symphony, Westminster (MD) Masterworks Chorale, Capital Brass Quintet (DE) Principal Trumpet and Associate Principal Trumpet with the Peoria (IL) Symphony, and the Peoria (IL) Symphony Brass Quintet. 

Glen Johnson has performed with the The Indigos Band, Heartland Big Band, Busselli/Wallarab Jazz Orchestra, Johnnie Kaye Big Band, Sentimental Journey Dance Band, Serenade Big Band, Bluewater Kings Band and International Christian Music Recording Artist Michael W. Smith and Trumpet virtuoso Allen Vizzutti. Glen Johnson is a regular recording studio session musician at Sweetwater Productions (Fort Wayne, IN) and The Lodge Recording Studio, (Indianapolis).
As a soloist, Mr. Johnson has given recitals at the Peabody Conservatory, Cincinnati Conservatory, Wright State University, University of Dayton, McDaniel College, and Anne Arundel Community College performing works including the Haydn Trumpet Concerto, Vivaldi Trumpet Concerto and the Brandenburg Concerto No. 2. 
Mr. Johnson has performed in all of the lower 48 United States and worldwide tour in Korea, Finland, Denmark, and Sweden. Glen’s Hot Horns ensemble won the New York Brass Conference International Brass Quintet Competition in 2003. His band Hot Horns, was nominated by the World Music Awards for Best Jazz Performance for 2023 of their song “Our Love is Here to Stay” – George Gershwin. He has released 3 albums with Bay Street Brassworks and to his scholarly credit, Glen Johnson has been publicized in the International Trumpet Guild Journal.
Glen Johnson is currently the trumpet instructor at Avon High School, Avon Middle School South, Avon Intermediate School West, Avon, IN, and Lead Trumpet with the Joy Swing Jazz Orchestra and The West Winds Big Band.
